I am a baby photographer in Aberdeen and love when older babies and children come to visit me in the studio. It’s a wonderful age to capture and their faces are full of expression. I have lot’s of tricks up my sleeves to get your child’s attention. However sometimes my efforts are hampered by (yes you’ve guessed it) parents!

Aberdeen Baby Photographer

Quite often during a session parents will get up and start telling their child to “look at the camera”, “smile”, “say cheese”, “where’s daddy, where’s mummy” etc. Sometimes they will start to sign or wave their hands about, jump up and down generally just being quite silly to get their child’s attention. Now helpful as you may think this is, who do you think your child will be looking at? Well it’s certainly not the camera! Most often the babies will look back at me with blank stares as if to say what on earth is happening lol!

Now trust me I get it as I was once a parent on the other side of the camera and did the exact same thing. I totally thought I was helping the photographer by getting my Childs attention, little did I realise at the time I had probably made the photographer’s job more difficult.

So please when you come to the studio with your children the best thing to do is to sit and say nothing, let me do all the work, the signing, the silly noises and generally making a fool of myself, don’t be offended if I say sit down and be quiet! I will obviously be more polite about it though!

I love photographing older babies, if you are interested in these session for your child contact me and we can discuss what you are looking for. These sessions are only £50 to book with no obligation to purchase anything afterwards. I also welcome you and your older children to be part of the session and update your family photographs.

Each week I give a shout out to a fellow photographer and this week it is Nicole Whyte who does fairy photography in Scotland. She has written a blog about her fairy experience check it out they look so much fun.
